A) your work is stunning
B) It does not come out shiny and harsh like mine does..

No problem... and thank you for the compliment.

-I photograph my paintings with a Digital SLR outside under indirect sunlight. The shiny look comes from the flash or artificial light bouncing off the sheen of the oil painting medium. I also photograph the painting before applying a varnish, which makes it even glossier.

I would avoid scanning your paintings. The light from the scanner is going to refract and cause the harsh shine that you are referring to.
